Chickasaw County Firms Up Closing Date to Purchase Home for Ambulances

Chickasaw County has firmed up the closing date for the purchasing of property to house its EMS department and ambulances.

Last week, the Board of Supervisors voted to extend an offer-to-purchase property at 204 East Prospect in New Hampton, owned by the County’s previous private ambulance service provider, Jeremy McGrath. That move came a week after the Board voted to enter a 30-day “option-to-buy” agreement for possible purchase of the Throndson Property at 259 East Prospect.

During their meeting this week (06.12), Supervisors Chair Matt Kuhn explained the change in direction.

While the official date for closing the sale was discussed the week prior as July 31st, it wasn’t part of the formal motion to buy the property. McGrath asked if the closing date could be pushed back to August 31st to allow more time to make some renovations to the property before EMS moves in.

In the end, the July 31st closing date was confirmed for the purchase, which Kuhn noted represented a turnaround for the Board.

The County currently rents garage space from the City of New Hampton on South Locust Avenue to house its two ambulances.  The County must give the City 30 days notice of ending that rental arrangement and move to its new location, which will come in time before the EMS department’s third ambulance is expected to arrive in August.
