The motorcycle operator and a pedestrian he hit with his bike have both died in a weekend crash in northeast Iowa.

The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office says the collision occurred shortly after 7 pm Sunday night on County Road A14, about 10 miles northeast of Cresco. Their investigation of the incident determined that 21-year-old Wyatt Tibbals of Cresco was driving a motorcycle at a high rate of speed when he struck a pedestrian in the roadway, 22-year-old Finn Ronken of Canton, Minnesota.

Both Ronken and Tibbals died from injuries suffered in the wreck, which remains under investigation with additional details pending.

The Iowa State Patrol, Howard County Sheriff’s Office, Cresco Police Department, Howard County Ambulance and the Winneshiek (WinnMed) Ambulance/Medical Examiner also responded to the scene.
