Charles City School Board Bond Informational Session Tuesday

A Charles City School Board will host an informational session Tuesday (05.23) evening for a proposed $28.5 million bond referendum to pay for facility upgrades at the High School.

The School Board is holding the work session to discuss and review  finances related to the bond referendum with Matt Gillaspie from Piper Sandler & Company. Superintendent Dr. Anne Lundquist encourages school district constituents to attend.

However, if you can’t attend at 5 pm Tuesday in the High School Library.

The drive to get about 500 signatures for a petition to put the bond referendum before voters this November is expected to ramp up after the informational session, although the petition is already available on the school district website.

If the measure gets on the ballot and is approved by a 60% supermajority vote, the school district could spend up to $28.5 to pay for a new performing arts auditorium at the High School as well as improvements and updates to the building that hasn’t had any major work done to it since it was built in 1960.
