Charles City’s Cunnings, New Hampton’s Rochford State Long Jump Champs

Both Charles City and New Hampton are boasting state long jump champions from the State Track and Field Championships.

Charles City’s Josiah Cunnings describes his feelings during and after winning the boys Class 3A long jump title Friday.

Cunnings is the second Comet to win the 3A long jump in the last three years, with Ian Collins taking the crown in 2021.

New Hampton’s Carlee Rochford won the Girls Class 2A long jump title.

Rochford says confidence and composure played a key role in her winning effort.

Rochford also credits her late grandfather for inspiring her to compete in the long jump. 

Rochford also placed 5th in 2A 100M hurdles.
