Seven months after a warrant was issued for her arrest, a Floyd County woman is in custody on felony forgery and theft charges.
The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office says a traffic stop at about 2:30 am Wednesday (04.19) morning led to the arrest of 54-year-old Kimberly Loomis of Rockford on a Butler County warrant. Initially issued last September, the warrant charges Loomis with first-degree theft, a Class B felony; forgery, a Class D felony; and unauthorized use of a credit card, an aggravated misdemeanor.
According to court documents, Loomis is accused of stealing almost $21,000 from her father, Ervin Loomis, through personal checks made out to her, ATM withdrawals and unauthorized credit card purchases. The activity was alleged to occur between January and June of 2022.
When initially contacted by authorities, Kimberly Loomis said she had permission from her father to make the transactions, but that he is forgetful. Ervin Loomis did not press charges immediately, but said he did not give his daughter permission and later hired an attorney to look into the matter.Â
The Butler County Sheriff’s Office began the initial investigation after they were contacted by First Security Bank in Charles City about activity that wasn’t normal on Ervin Loomis’ account.
Kimberly Loomis is being held in the Butler County Jail with bail set at $10,000 cash or surety bond.Â
