Drug Take Back Events Saturday in Northeast Iowa

The Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office and New Hampton Police Department are participating in a DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back this weekend.
Unwanted and/or no-longer-used prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications and vitamins can be dropped off at the Community Services Building in New Hampton from 10 an to 2 pm Saturday.Â
That’s NHPD Officer Chad McGee, who encourages disposing of those items properly rather than throwing them away.
McGee says officials also want to keep prescription drugs out of the hands of teenagers.
The Howard County Sheriff’s Office and Substance Abuse Services for Howard County are also accepting Drug Take Back drop offs in the Sheriff’s Office lobby in Cresco from 10 am to 2 pm Saturday. Drug Take Backs are also being hosted Saturday by Sheriff’s Offices in Bremer County and Winneshiek County.
The Drug Take Back events are coordinated by the Northeast Iowa Drug Task Force in cooperation with Helping Services of Northeast Iowa.
