No Chair Change for Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors

After a discussion lasting about 30 minutes, there will be no change in chair of the Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors.

The issue comes from the Board’s April 4th meeting in which Board Chair Matt Kuhn and fellow Supervisor Jacob Hackman sparred over Kuhn’s claims that Hackman accused Kuhn of poor leadership following their April 3rd meeting.

In their April 10th meeting, Supervisor Travis Suckow said several of his constituents took issue with the exchange and called for Kuhn to step down and the matter was placed on the agenda for Monday (04.17) morning, during which, Kuhn read a letter to the people of Chickasaw County saying he brought the matter to light to explain his frustrations with actions outside the Board while trying to serve the County.

Supervisor Scott Cerwinske didn’t agree with Kuhn’s approach, but acknowledged the Board has a reputation issue.

Former Supervisor Jason Byrne gave support to Kuhn while noting that those “behind-the-scene” challenges have been present for years.

Several comments for the Board’s divisive nature implicated Supervisor Jacob Hackman, who reiterated examples of the deficiencies in Kuhn’s leadership, several procedural in nature.

County Attorney David Laudner told the Board he spoke to state leaders about how to best solve the situation.

In the end, no change was made but all Supervisors agreed they needed to do better in representing and serving the County in a dignified manner.
