Northeast Iowa Fire Department Mourns Loss of Former Fire Chief
A northeast Iowa fire department is mourning the loss of a former fire chief.
The Fairbank Fire Department has announced the passing of active member and former Fire Chief Dave Ryan. He passed away after a very brief bout of cancer. Â
Ryan served the fire department from September 12, 1989 until his death on Wednesday, April 19, 2023. He held positions of firefighter, EMT, training officer, assistant chief, and Fire Chief. Despite the cancer, Dave attended his last fire training this past Saturday, April 15, 2023.
Ryan is the first Fairbank Fire Department member to pass away while on active duty in over 40 years.
Services: Wake is at Immaculate Conception Church Hall on Monday 4:00PM to 7:00PM. A funeral Mass is on Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Church at 10:30. Neighboring emergency responders that are wishing to sit as a group are asked to be at I.C. at 10:00. Fr.
