DOT Begins Several Lane Closures Monday in Northeast Iowa

The New Hampton construction office of DOT is announcing a series of lane closures coming to northeast Iowa starting Monday (04.03).

Motorists in the northbound lanes on U.S. 218 about a mile south of the Iowa 27 interchange in Black Hawk County should prepare for a pavement replacement project that begins Monday, April 3. Single lanes will remain open for drivers on U.S. 218 and Iowa 57 as work is completed in stages.

Drivers in Cedar Falls will also experience a construction project on Iowa 27/Iowa 58 from U.S. 20 through Ridgeway Avenue. Construction on the first year of the project also begins on Monday, April 3. Drivers will be placed in a head-to-head traffic pattern to keep traffic moving on both Iowa 27/Iowa 58 and Ridgeway Avenue as crews work in stages to install box culverts and storm sewers, replace concrete pavement, and install signals and lights.

Changeable messages signs will let drivers know about road closures and traffic pattern changes in both of those areas. Construction on both projects will continue until early November, weather permitting.

The New Hampton DOT says an asphalt paving project will require lane closures on Iowa 13 from Strawberry Point to Elkader and will also begin on Monday, April 3. Drivers will be directed through the work zone with flaggers and pilot cars while work is taking place, which is expected to continue until early August, weather permitting.
