Wind Turbine Construction to Begin Late Spring In Chickasaw County

Construction of 66 wind turbines as part of the Chickasaw County Wind Energy Center is expected to start later this spring.

Chickasaw County Assessor and Land Use Administrator Ray Armel says he and County Engineer Roman Lensing recently met with representatives of the project’s parent company, Invenergy, which is headquartered in Chicago, for a construction timeline update.

Armel says construction of the turbines, plus the underground lines to connect turbine-to-turbine, will involve the northern half of the County.

Unlike the “fast track” Summit Carbon Solutions has been on to build its proposed underground carbon capture in Chickasaw County, Armel says Invenergy has taken a steady approach to their wind turbines.

Armel also notes that all landowners involved in the wind energy project voluntarily entered into easement agreements with Invenergy, which will host landowners for a special dinner at 5 pm Thursday, March 23rd at The Pub at the Pinicon in New Hampton. That will be followed by a public meeting for officials to answer questions from the public at 7:30 pm at the Chickasaw Event Center in New Hampton.
