Charles City Takes Two of Top Eight Places at Girls State Bowling Tournament

Charles City took two of the top eight places at the Class 1A Girls Individual State Bowling Tournament at Cadillac Lanes in Waterloo Tuesday.

Comets sophomore Isabel Crawford finished fourth overall with a three-game score of 615, just 21 pins back of state champion Kali Johnson, a senior from Forest City. Crawford’s teammate, junior Claire Girkin, finished in seventh place with a score of 603.

In the 1A Boys Individual State Bowling Tournament, also at Cadillac Lanes, Charles City’s Keaton Ross was 27th and the Comets Xander Graeser was 30th. Oelwein’s Austin Espe finished 14th and Sumner-Fredericksburg’s Dyson Koch was 23rd.

Decorah placed fourth in the team standings in Class 2A with Independence taking second.
