New Floyd County K9 Experiences Busy First Three Months

It’s been a busy first three months for Floyd County’s newest sheriff’s deputy.

In a department Facebook post, the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office says its K9, Sirius, “has been used quite a bit and we couldn’t be more proud and pleased with his success. Sirius loves his toys and loves to work. He has been deployed on 13 traffic stops with six positive alerts, resulting in narcotics and drug paraphernalia being located each time. He has assisted a few other agencies as well.”

The post adds that, “Sirius has been deployed to track two missing people, a burglar suspect and a few suspects who ran from law enforcement.  We also used Sirius on two search warrants. Congratulations to Sirius and K9 Deputy Luke Chatfield on their great work. ”

The sheriff’s office also notes that their new supply of 250 Sirius plush puppies has arrived. Each one costs $20.

Their first batch of 250 plush toys in October sold out in about 36 hours, generating $2,400 for the K9 program.
