Holiday Light Displays in New Hampton, Charles City Debut This Weekend

City parks in New Hampton and Charles City will be illuminated for the holiday season this weekend.

Dee McGrath is with Little Light of Mine opening Friday in New Hampton’s Mikkelson Park.

Now in its sixth year, Little Light of Mine is now a certified 501C3 non-profit organization, making donations to the event tax deductible.

“Shanta’s Shining Lights” is returning to Charles City’s Central Park for its second year.

Festivities this Saturday night begin at 4:30 p.m. with the displays being lit up at 5:30 p.m. Mrs. Claus will be at the Santa house and there will be food trucks on hand until 7:30 p.m.

The event will also feature the honoring of loved ones lost with the lighting of “Memory Lane” along the Bayou Bend area of the Cedar River at dusk. 

Saturday night’s opening festivities will also be highlighted by the fireworks show on the Main Street bridge starting at 7 p.m.
