TLC Makes Final Financial Push for Relocation in Charles City

TLC in Charles City is making a final financial push to complete their move into the 1970’s section of the former middle school building.

In a letter to the community, the child care center says they have dealt with supply chain delays, product accessibility, increased costs and more, all which have combined to produce a funding GAP of $275,000.

Thus, TLC is asking for support to cross the finish line to project completion, which will make it possible to provide child care for 179 children of the working parents of the community; an increase of 86 more children nurtured and cared for at TLC’s current location. 

TLC has received $1.5 million from the State of Iowa and another $365,000 from additional grants that have been written for the renovation.  Director Pam Ost says applications for more grant funding are also in the works.

Ost says there’s still no definite date for TLC’s relocation into the former middle school on North Grand Avenue, but they have been able to move some items and supplies into the building to make the eventual transition of the children easier when that time comes.
