Just over seven months after construction began, Pete Hjelmstad with the Mason City District office of the Iowa DOT tells KCHA/KCZE news that the eastbound lanes of the new Highway 218/18/Avenue of the Saints interchange at Floyd are just about ready for traffic.
Hjelmstad says Tuesday will present changes for motorists in both directions.
Hjelmstad adds that the speed limit in that area will be 55 mph in both east and west directions, plus the traffic lights will remain in place for westbound traffic as well as north and southbound traffic crossing westbound US 218 into and out of Floyd.
Reconstruction of the westbound lanes of the interchange will occur during the 2023 construction season.
