Three people were arrested recently in northeast Iowa on drug charges, with more arrests possible.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office says that they, along with West Union Police, executed a search warrant at an apartment in the 200 block of West Elm Street in West Union at about 11:30 p.m. on November 5th. During the search, marijuana and paraphernalia were found and seized, which also led to an investigation of a second location just north of West Union, where law enforcement found multiple subjects, including minors, consuming alcohol and using controlled substances.
Arrested were 23-year-old Janelle Westcott, 19-year-old Dillon Schweer and 19-year-old Emma Calhoun of West Union, each charged with one count of possession of marijuana, a serious misdemeanor. Schweer was also charged with gathering where controlled substances are being used, a serious misdemeanor. He and Westcott were also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor. Charges are pending against other juveniles that were present.
Sheriff Marty Fisher says their investigation also led to an additional search of an apartment in the 100 block of Adams Street in West Union last Friday, which resulted in the location and seizure of a firearm and ammunition. No further arrests were made, but the investigation is ongoing and more charges may be pending.
The Iowa State Patrol also assisted in the investigation.
