Splash Station, Other Additions in the Works for Rudd

While fundraising continues for the new Imagination Splash Station and Playground in Rudd, construction for the project is coming more into focus.

Committee Member Casey Wood says they paid for the playground equipment within the last week, the splash pad equipment is expected to arrive in December and installation is targeted for next spring.

Wood says they’ve raised about $173,000 of the estimated $223,000 cost; including donations of $25,000 from the City of Rudd and $15,000 from the Beth Reinhart Charitable Trust within the last week. She says they need about $38,000 to include the rubber surface to make the playground all-inclusive.

Wood says her committee also conducted a town hall meeting last week to get input on other possible city improvements as Rudd approaches the one-year anniversary of the December 15, 2021 tornado that clobbered the Floyd County town.

Wood says topics discussed included upgrades to Main Street and the Community Center, and rebuilding the library destroyed by last year’s tornado.
