Floyd County Medical Center New Electronic Health Records Now Live

After a year of working to digitize patients’ health records, a new electronic health records system is now active at Floyd County Medical Center (FCMC), for both the hospital and clinic in Charles City.

FCMC Chief Information Officer Cristina Thomas says accessing your health records can now be done through the “patient portal.”

Thomas says patients will have to first come to FCMC to set up their account with username and password, so be prepared for longer wait times at the check-in desks before your appointments. 

However, she adds that once you’re registered in the patient portal, you’ll be able to self check-in for future FCMC appointments.

Thomas says FCMC staff began the process of scanning some 20,000 paper patient documents back in February, but now all patient records have been digitized.
