North Iowa Roads Could Get Brined Even in Absence of Snow

While colder temps are being experienced in north Iowa, there hasn’t been any snow….yet.

Still, Pete Hjelmstad with the Mason City District office of the Iowa DOT says there are times when crews might need to treat roads, even in the absence of snow.

When the snow does start flying, Hjelmstad recommends downloading the DOT’s enhanced 511ia app for the latest road conditions and construction, plus other new features that might help you plan your driving route.

Hjelmstad says the DOT has been officially in winter road condition reporting mode since October 15th.

The forecast from the National Weather Service in Lacrosse includes a 20 to 30% for snow showers Monday afternoon into Tuesday.
