Eight Candidates Vie for Three Floyd County Supervisor Seats

The Floyd County Board of Supervisors could get a complete overhaul come January 1st with eight candidates vying for three seats in Tuesday’s elections.

This will be the first general election since 1970 in which the three supervisor positions are not elected at-large. A special election in August 2021 resulted in a switch to supervisors being elected in three districts with candidates residing in the district they wish to represent.

As a result, current Supervisors Linda Tjaden, Roy Schiwckerath and Doug Kamm opted not to run for re-election. However, Kamm later changed his mind and is running, technically, as a No-Party candidate, although he’s a Republican.

Kamm is running against fellow Republican Julius Bryant and Democrat Mark Kuhn, for the new Supervisor District 1 seat, consisting of Charles City Precinct 1, plus St. Charles Township South and Ulster, Scott, Union, Pleasant Grove, and Riverton townships,

Republican Dennis Kiefer squares off against Democrat Josh Mack for Supervisor of Floyd County District 2, which includes Charles City precincts 2 and 3, along with St. Charles Township North.

Democrat Jim Lundberg, Republican Jeff Hawbaker and No Party candidate Jayson Ryner are running for the District 3 Supervisor seat, made up of Rockford, Rudd, Rock Grove, Floyd, Cedar and Niles townships.
