Senator Grassley Hits Charles City on Campaign Trail

U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley was on the campaign trail in Charles City Monday.

Grassley spoked with KCHA/KCZE News about ways the federal government could help spur construction of new homes to meet the housing shortage facing Charles City and many other communities.

That housing shortage could face another pinch with a $6.5 million expansion at Cambrex in Charles City expected to create 40 more jobs and with the Pure Prairie Farms (PPF) chicken processing plant to resume operations, anticipated in November, with about 50 employees initially and upwards to 250 if and when they operate at full capacity.

Grassley says it’s a good problem to have when companies like Cambrex and PPF increase the output of value-added ag products.

And whether you vote for him or not, Grassley encourages voters to get out to the polls next Tuesday.
