Chickasaw County to Spend Almost $100,000 for New Sheriff’s Body, In-Car Cameras

Chickasaw County will spend almost $100,000 to purchase new body and in-car cameras for the Sheriff’s Department.

During the Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors meeting Monday, Sheriff Ryan Shawver explained that their current body cameras worn by deputies, as well as cameras mounted inside patrol vehicles, are nearing the end of their usefulness. Their models are also no longer being made and service of the current cameras will only be available for another year.

Chief Deputy Zach Nosbisch also added that the current cameras are not linked together, which the new cameras would provide.

County Attorney David Laudner noted the importance of having the two-camera system in court.

Supervisors approved the purchase of seven pairs of body and in-car cameras through a lease agreement that will spread out the County’s payments over five years, starting with the new fiscal year which begins July 1st.
