Oelwein Police Arrest Three More on Drug Charges

Oelwein Police have arrested three more people on drug charges following their latest drug raid, bringing their total number of arrests within the past two weeks to almost a dozen subjects.

Shortly before 8:30 am Monday, Oelwein Police executed a search warrant in the 200 block of 2nd Street Northwest. During the course of the search warrant, illegal controlled substances were located and seized, leading to the arrests of 53-year-old Brian Buhr of Sumner, and 44-year-old Joshua Alitz and 22-year-old Cassidy Towell, both of Oelwein.

Buhr and Alitz are both charged with Possession with the intent to deliver, Possession of methamphetamine 3rd or subsequent offense, Possession of marijuana 3rd or subsequent offense, and Gathering Where Controlled Substances Are Used, all Class D felonies. They also face one count each of Unlawful possession of a prescription drug, a serious misdemeanor, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Buhr is also accused of providing false identification information.

Towell is charged with possession of meth and marijuana, plus Unlawful possession of a prescription drug, all Serious Misdemeanors; Gathering Where Controlled Substances Are Used and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Oelwein Police say Additional charges are pending. 

The Iowa State Patrol, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, and the Oelwein Community Development Department also assisted with the investigation.

Since April 17th, authorities have executed four search warrants on various residences in Oelwein, leading to 11 subjects in custody on various drug charges.
