Final Week On Job for New Hampton Police Chief Nosbisch

After four-and-a-half years, Zach Nosbisch is entering his final week on the job as Chief of Police for the City of New Hampton.

Nosbisch is leaving the NHPD to become the new Chief Deputy with the Chickasaw County Sheriff Office. He will begin his new job Monday, March 6th, after his appointment was made official last week by the Board of Supervisors.

Nosbisch says his decision wasn’t easy and goes beyond an increase in pay and benefits.

While Nosbisch is headed up the street from the police station to the Sheriff’s office in New Hampton, he says he will remain available to help the City when a new police chief is hired.

A key relationship for Nosbisch is that with the new Sheriff, Ryan Shawver, who started with the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office a year before Nosbisch became a deputy in 2013. He was with the Sheriff’s Office until becoming New Hampton Police Chief in the fall of 2018.

The City hopes to name a successor to Nosbisch this week. New Hampton Mayor Bobby Schwickerath says six applications for the post were submitted by last Friday’s deadline and they will interview five of those candidates.
