Outgoing State Rep. Prichard Endorses Fellow Democrat Lundberg

Outgoing Iowa House District 52 representative Todd Prichard (D) of Charles City has endorsed a fellow Democrat in the race for the state’s new House District 58 Seat.

Currently, Floyd and Chickasaw County, plus a section of Cerro Gordo County east of Mason City, make up House District 52, represented by Prichard. However, with redistricting brought on by the 2020 census, most of Floyd County and all of Chickasaw County will shift into the newly created House District 58, along with the eastern two-thirds of Bremer County.

Prichard, who is not seeking re-election in the new district, this week backed Dene Lundberg of Charles City in her race against Republican Charley Thomson, also of Charles City.

In endorsing Lundberg, Prichard noted that Lundberg has the characteristic that is most crucial to being a legislator: she listens. He also added Lundberg has compassion, does her homework, and understands farming and its importance to our rural community.

After no Democrats were on the Primary ballot in June, Lundberg, a former Charles City teacher, was nominated to run for the state house during a Democratic convention in July.

Lundberg’s husband, Jim, is also running for office. The Charles City High School ag teacher and 9th grade football coach became the Democratic candidate for the new Floyd County District 3 Supervisor seat with a write-in campaign for the June Primary. He will face Republican Jeff Hawbaker, who was the only candidate on the Republican Primary ballot, and Jason Ryner, a No Party candidate who filed to run in late August.
