Special Election Tuesday for Voters in Nashua-Plainfield, RRMR School Districts

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday for special election voting in the Nashua-Plainfield and Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock school districts.

Voters are being asked to adopt their respective district’s Revenue Purpose Statements specifying the use of revenues from the State of Iowa Advanced Vision Education Fund.

Among Nashua-Plainfield projects, money from the one-cent tax would transform the former Plainfield school site into a new home for Huskies baseball, where the softball team already plays their home games.

That’s Superintendent Todd Liechty, who notes the baseball team has been treated well by the Big 4 Fair, which owns the field where the Huskies currently call home. However, having a home of their own is a matter of pride.

Liechty is also the shared Superintendent at the RRMR School District.

Eligible voters in Floyd County in the Nashua-Plainfield School District can cast ballots Tuesday at any of three vote centers: Floyd County Fairgrounds, Floyd Community Center or Rockford City Hall/Community Center. Eligible voters in Chickasaw and Butler counties vote at Nashua City Hall.

RRMR eligible voters residing in Floyd and Mitchell counties can cast ballots Tuesday at vote centers at Rockford City Hall/Community Center, Floyd Community Center, or Floyd County Fairgrounds.  Eligible voters residing in Cerro Gordo County vote at Hanford Community Church and within Dougherty Township vote at Rockwell Community Center.

Sample ballots can be viewed on the Floyd County Auditor’s Office Facebook page and at www.floydco.iowa.gov.com website
