County Auditors Remind Voters, Candidates of Important Election Dates

County Auditor’s offices are reminding voters and candidates of important dates in advance of November’s general election.

Laura Wickham with Chickasaw County notes that Tuesday, August 30th is the first day absentee ballot requests can be accepted in the auditor’s office. You can also call to have a request form mailed to you or request the form online through the Secretary of State’s office

Wednesday, October 19th is the first day to mail out ballots to those who have requested one. It’s also the first day to vote in your county auditor’s office. Monday, October 24th is the last day to request an absentee ballot to be mailed to you and Monday, November 7th is the last day to vote absentee in the auditor’s office.

Election Day, Tuesday, November 8th, is the last day to return absentee ballots and MUST be in the auditor’s office by 8:00 p.m. in order to be counted. Polls are open election day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Floyd County Auditor Gloria Carr reminds candidates that 5 pm, Wednesday, August 31st is the deadline for non-party political organizations (NPPO) and no party candidates to file papers to run for the following General Election local races in Floyd County: Board of Supervisor, Attorney, Treasurer, Recorder, Township Trustees and Clerks, Hospital Trustees, Ag Extension Council, and Soil and Water District Commission. Contact the Floyd County Auditor’s Office for filing requirements.
