Chickasaw County Supervisors to Appoint Interim County Auditor

The Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors is expected to appoint an interim replacement for County Auditor Stephanie Mashek, who is resigning her post effective July 30th.

At their regular meeting Monday, the Board accepted Mashek’s resignation from the position she’s held since January 1, 2021. She was elected in November 2020 and her term is slated to run through December 31, 2024.

upervisors are likely to appoint someone to serve as acting auditor which County Attorney David Laudner says must be done within 40 days of the vacancy.

Laudner added he’ll contact Secretary of State Paul Pate’s office as to whether leaving the position open is an option, although he doesn’t recommend it in an election year. Mashek is also the Commissioner of Elections for the County and whoever takes over for her will likely pick up those duties as well.
