Charles City Looking for More RAGBRAI Law Enforcement
The Charles City Police Department is on the lookout for additional help when RAGBRAI comes to town for the overnight stay on July 28th.
CCPD Captain Brandon Franke told the City Council Monday night that efforts to recruit extra officers from neighboring law enforcement agencies continues.
In addition to Mason City hosting RAGBRAI the night of July 27th, West Union will host riders the night of July 29th, further stretching officer availability thinner.
The council Monday night approved a “memorandum of understanding” that will allow outside officers to remain employed by their current department, but work under the direction of CCPD staff during RAGBRAI while being reimbursed for their time.
