Luther College Removes Chamberlain’s Interim from Provost Title

Luther College in Decorah has removed the “interim” title and named Dr. Bradley Chamberlain as provost of Luther College.

School President Jenifer K. Ward announced the appointment of Chamberlain as provost, a position he’s held on an interim basis since August. His appointment follows a nationwide search led by a 22-person committee including faculty, staff, cabinet members, students and regents.

Chamberlain has served as vice president for mission and communication since 2019 and joined the Luther faculty in 2001. He will assume his new role as provost beginning in January.

In a statement, Chamberlain said, “I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to partner with this community in a new way to support and enhance the student experience, both inside and outside of the classroom.”

As provost, Chamberlain will work with the president to provide thoughtful and creative leadership while overseeing the student-facing division that includes academic affairs, student engagement and student success. The provost model was instituted at Luther in 2021 as a way to create an integrated, student-centered approach to all academic and co-curricular services.
