EMS Advisory Council Hosts More Town Hall Meetings
The Floyd County EMS Advisory Council will host four more town hall meetings this week in advance of November’s vote on a resolution to declare emergency medical services (EMS) as essential.
If the measure is approved, it would allow the County to use a combination of a property tax and income surcharge to raise up to $556,000 a year for 10 years, with revenue going to fund the various ambulances and first responders who provide service in the County.
The EMS Council has scheduled a series of town halls to educate voters how the resolution works, what it means to future EMS services, and how the tax could be assessed.
Town halls Monday include a presentation at the Charles City Rotary Club’s noon luncheon at the Elks Lodge and a 7 p.m. session at the Floyd Fire Station.
Additional town halls are scheduled this week for 7 p.m. Tuesday night at the Nora Springs City Hall and 7 p.m. Thursday night at the NIACC Center in Charles City.
