Chickasaw County Works to Make Public Ambulance Official

Getting a county-run ambulance service started by January 1st in Chickasaw County still has a few curves in the road to navigate.

During their regular meeting Monday, Supervisor Jacob Hackman noted that while the County has agreed for the purchase of some ambulance equipment, the state Department of Management may have an issue in that there’s no official ambulance fund to make purchases out of..

In addition to making the appropriate budget amendment, County Attorney David Laudner also recommended passing an ordinance to officially establish the ambulance department under Chickasaw County EMS.

Supervisors set a public hearing for the first reading of an ambulance ordinance during their regular board meeting on September 26th.

In ambulance action taken by Supervisors, the Board voted unanimously to name Dr. Lucas Brinkman as Medical Director, with Dr. Jack Kline as Deputy Medical Director. They also approved establishing a Facebook page to disseminate information about the ambulance service including advertising for staff.
