Charles City Park-Rec Department Continues to Shape 5-Year Plan

Developing a five-year plan for the City of Charles City Parks and Recreation department continues to take shape.

Park-Rec Director Tyler Mitchell says the Park-Rec Board has been working to pare down a comprehensive list of projects and goals that started compiling months ago.

Mitchell says board members were asked to include anything and everything on their list in hopes that a “fresh set of eyes” will catch things his department may have missed, noting they maintain more than just the eight City parks.

The list of Park-Rec priorities has not yet been finalized, but top items thus far include the building of a new skate park, repairing or replacing the clubhouse at Wildwood Golf Course, and renovating the municipal swimming pool at Lions Field versus constructing a new aquatic center.
