Health Mitigation Plan Activated at Charles City High School

Students and staff at Charles City High School return to school Tuesday required to wear face coverings.

School officials issued the mask requirement last week after the high school reached a 7% absence rate for three consecutive days, thus initiating the health mitigation plan (HMP) approved by the school board in September. The HMP is in effect for students, staff and visitors at the high school only.

The district noted that, “This is a temporary period during which face coverings will be required at Charles City High School. As per our commitment to families, we will use face coverings as a targeted tool only where and when it is necessary.”

When activated, the health mitigation plan is in place for a 10-day period, which officially began on Friday, January 14th. The face mask requirement at Charles City High School is scheduled to expire this Sunday, January 23rd.

The school district will review the current absentee rate closer to the end of the 10-day period. Face coverings are available in the High School office.
