A second arrest has been made in a Charles City child endangerment investigation.

The Charles City Police Department went to the 100 block of 5th Avenue at about 7 p.m. Wednesday night and arrested the child’s mother, 19-year-old Madison Geerts. She was charged with child endangerment causing serious injury, a Class C felony.

Monday night, CCPD arrested 22-year-old Ezekiel Larson on the same charge after their investigation determined a four-month-old infant suffered severe head injuries on September 6th while Larson was the sole caretaker of the infant. Larson is also accused of not seeking medical treatment for the child until four days after the injuries. During that period, authorities say the infant had been vomiting and not eating or drinking.

Court documents accuse Geerts of knowing about the her infant’s injuries and also not making arrangements for medical attention for the child until four days later.

Both Geerts and Larson were each being held in the Floyd County Jail on $10,000 cash only bond.
