Motorists will see the construction of the new Highway 218/18/27 interchange at Floyd take on more visible progress as we enter the fall.
For the last five months, crews have been working on the new eastbound lanes and have finished the deck of the new bridge that will pass over County Road T-44. Pete Hjelmstad with the Mason City District office of the DOT says that will allow them to ramp up paving activity in the coming weeks.
Hjelmstad says construction has been progressing on target, and that means two-lane, two-way traffic could return in about two months.
Hjelmstad says the construction focus switches to the westbound lanes next spring with hopes of getting things restarted by late March, but it will all depend on the weather.
