New Hampton Continues Working Towards Police Pay Raise

The City of New Hampton continues to explore upping the pay for its police officers.

Mayor Bobby Schwickerath says the process took another step forward at this week’s City Council meeting.

Schwickerath recently noted that New Hampton police officers, on average, are being paid $2 to $3 less per hour than neighboring departments. Thus, the City needs to up its pay to be more competitive.

The police department is looking to hire at least one officer and is going through the interview process with an applicant.
