RAGBRAI Continues to Push East Friday in Chickasaw, Fayette Counties

The eastward migration of RAGBRAI riders continues Friday into Chickasaw and Fayette counties.

The Day 6 route will have bicyclists departing from Charles City early Friday and then they head to the pass-through town of Ionia.

That’s Ionia RAGBRAI committee member Jennifer Klassen, who says they’ll have plenty of breakfast options available when riders arrive. After Ionia, it’s onto New Hampton followed by the meeting town of Lawler.

That’s Jason Byrne with the RAGBRAI Lawler committee, who says they will also have a huge wall for riders to sign. After Lawler, the route takes RAGBRAI riders through Waucoma and Hawkeye before the overnight stop in West Union. The majority of riders are anticipated to arrive in West Union and wrap up the day’s 63-mile trek around 3 p.m.

Saturday’s final 65-mile leg of RAGBRAI takes riders from West Union to pass-through towns Elgin and Gunder before the meeting town of Postville. Then it’s onto Waukon, followed by Elon, Dalby and Village Creek before the final destination of Lansing and the Mississippi River.
