After scores were re-tabulated, Big Cedar BBQ successfully defended its Charles City BBQ Challenge title on Saturday.
A scoring snafu initially resulted in the Butt Masters team of Darin Tusler and Steven Johnson being announced as the winners at the end of the event adjacent to Central Park. However, the corrected scoring put the Big Cedar BBQ team of Robert Lines and Jamey Welter over the top by about three-and-a-half points.
As a result, each team will receive the first-place prize of $750, but the title goes to Big Cedar, which also took home the People’s Choice award, good for another $100 cash prize.
Third-place and a $100 cash prize went to LTS BBQ from Waterloo and the duo of Steve Carfrae and John Heiar.
