“Big Guy” Signs Off After 25 Years as “Voice of the Chickasaws”

It’s the end of an era for New Hampton High School sports.

Neil “Big Guy” Stone signed off after 25 years as “Voice of the Chickasaws” with his final play-by-play broadcast Saturday night on 95.1 The Bull, a 2-1 Chickasaws loss to Jesup in a district title baseball game.

While he’s been the voice for all Chickasaw sports for the last quarter of a century, Stone recalls how he was first approached about doing radio sports broadcasting while he was at a New Hampton boys basketball game in 1977.

Stone says he’s got a lot of great memories during his broadcast career, including one very special “family affair.”

You can hear more reflections from “Big Guy” during his interview with Eric Hoefer here.

We at Coloff Media wish Neil the best in his retirement and, on behalf of all Chickasaws fans, “Thanks for the memories.”
