New Hampton Police Officer Recruitment Continues

The New Hampton Police Department continues recruitment efforts for a new full-time peace officer.

NHPD had been accepting applications initially through June 24th, but after only one potential candidate applied, the deadline for applications has been extended to July 22nd. Chief Zach Nosbisch says getting people into law enforcement is challenging enough, let alone keeping quality officers on the force.

Nosbisch says the competition for officers across the area is also stiff, noting recent pay increases for police officers in Charles City, while the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office announced last week that they receive nine applications for an open deputy position.

The City Council this week discussed how New Hampton can become more competitive in their recruitment.
