Law Enforcement Watching Drivers Closely for the Holiday Weekend

From police departments to county sheriff’s offices to the Iowa State Patrol, law enforcement is increasing their presence across the state during the July 4th holiday weekend.

Trooper Tom Williams with the Cedar Falls district office of the ISP, says they’re cracking down on impaired drivers with the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) July 2nd to 5th.

Williams says the goal of heightened efforts by law enforcement is to keep more motorists in Iowa from joining the list of fatalities.

Williams says the state patrol is also involved with the Crash Awareness Reduction and Effort, or C.A.R.E., running Friday through midnight on July 4th, a campaign also looking to crack down on impaired driving.
