Consumer Fireworks Can Be Shot in New Hampton, Not Charles City

Not all ordinances are created equal when it comes to whether lighting up fireworks is allowed within city limits.

New Hampton Police Chief Zach Nosbisch says New Hampton city code reflects state code in regards to consumer fireworks.

Charles City’s fireworks ordinance is much more restrictive, explains Charles City Fire Chief Eric Whipple.

If you are setting off fireworks, both Nosbisch and Whipple advise reading and following label directions for safe handling and keep a water supply handy in the event a spark or ember causes a fire.

Check with your local authorities as to what is allowed and not allowed when it comes to lighting up your fireworks.
