Road Construction Projects Aplenty in North Iowa

A sure indication of summer is road construction.

Pete Hjelmstad with the Mason City District office of the DOT helps monitor projects in 19 north Iowa counties.

Hjelmstad says one of the largest projects, other than the Highway 218/18/27 interchange at Floyd, will impact a 15-mile stretch of road in Butler County.

Hjelmstad says construction that should wrap up in the next couple of weeks include resurfacing and shoulder work on Highway 218 between Nashua and Plainfield, plus the Iowa Highway 9 paved shoulder work in between the Plymouth and St. Ansgar turnoffs in Mitchell County.

Hjelmstad says resurfacing projects for Iowa Highway 52 in Ossian and Castalia, plus Iowa Highway 76 north of Marquette have begun or will start soon.
