Charles City Whitewater Challenge Marks 10th Year

The Charles City Challenge Whitewater Festival is marking a special milestone with its 10th event this weekend.

Chamber of Commerce Tourism Coordinator Ginger Williams says the challenge has gained a reputation over the years as a fun event for spectators and for competitors.

Williams notes there is a river surfing clinic from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday and competition is slated to start at 10 a.m. Saturday morning.

Williams adds that there are also family activities on shore, plus the Cardboard Boat and Hooligan Race at 12:30 p.m. with an on-site registration deadline of noon Saturday will also be accepted.

The event wraps up with Sunday Funday.
