Planted Green Field Open House Near Rockford Tonight (06.21)

Corn and soybeans planted into a green rye cover crop will be featured during an open house west of Charles City tonight.

The Floyd County Soil and Water Conservation District and the Charles City Watershed Project are sponsoring the event at the Trent Dight farm about halfway between Charles City and Rockford.

Dight says he has been utilizing no-till and strip-till practices, along with cover crops like rye in his corn fields for almost five years.

Dight says moving away from traditional farming practices hasn’t always been easy.

Light refreshments will also be available during the “Planted Green Field Day” open house tonight from 7 to 8 p.m.
