Charles City Officials Investigate Bathroom Vandalism

Officials in Charles City are investigating a series of vandalism incidents involving public restrooms.

A City of Charles City Facebook post shows pictures of urinals and toilets damaged in recent weeks with a caption that reads, “This is just a sample of the vandalism that is occurring in our park restrooms as of late. We have accumulated over $1000 of damage and that doesn’t include employee time to clean this all up.”

The post adds, “This is starting to happen in daylight hours, which may force us (the City) to consider locking up the restrooms and using porta potties instead. Please, help us keep our parks and restrooms in good condition and available for everyone. Thank you for your help!”

The public is asked to please watch for any of this type of activity and call dispatch at 228-3366 to report it.
