About two dozen bicyclists made the trek from Mason City to Charles City Thursday as part of the “pre-ride” for this year’s RAGBRAI route.
RAGBRAI Marketing Director Anne Lowrie says their “test run” shows that riders will enjoy their Day 5 ride on July 28th into Charles City for that night’s overnight stay.
Charles City RAGBRAI Hospitality Chair Phoebe Pittman adds that the pre-ride offers a low-key approach to the real ride next month.
The RAGBRAI pre-ride continues on Friday. After leaving Charles City, bikers will pass through Ionia, then New Hampton, before visiting the meeting town of Lawler. That’s followed by passes through Waucoma and Hawkeye before stopping in West Union, which will serve as the overnight stop at the end of Day 6 of the ride on July 29th.
