Chickasaw County Supervisors to Support County-Run Ambulance

The Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors will continue to explore a county-run ambulance service.

Last week, SaveTech Solutions presented the supervisors and the Chickasaw Ambulance Council with a feasibility study on possible options for ambulance services in the county. The County’s contract with its current provider, Chickasaw Ambulance Service, is set to expire December 31st.

During their regular meeting Monday, the Board reached a consensus to pursue a county-run ambulance, which Supervisor Jason Byrne says could be scaled back from the model proposed by SaveTech’s study.

Private or publicly run, Supervisor Jacob Hackman noted sustainability will depend on paying for costs impacting ambulance services everywhere.

County Attorney David Laudner advised the Board to take the lead in providing direction for the ambulance council.

While no official action was taken, the supervisors agreed that the county should utilize ARPA funds to supply the startup costs for the county-run ambulance service and work on an agreement with the municipalities represented by the ambulance council on a formula to fund regular operations. The board will approach the financials during a joint meeting with the ambulance council tonight (05.24) at 5:30 p.m. at the Community Services Building.
