Teresa Ann Carolan was born May 8, 1938 in Decorah, Iowa. Her parents were Melvin and Ruth (Whalen) Carolan. At the age of three, she moved with family to Austin, Minnesota. She attended grade school at Queen of Angels and High School at Saint Augustine, graduating in May of 1956. After graduation, she worked at the 1st National Bank in Austin until February 1957. She worked as a cashier at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota until her marriage to Orville John Scholbrock on March 31, 1959. They lived all their married life in Charles City and Floyd. To this union six children were born – Kevin (Lois) and children Maggie (Bryan) and Jason (Hillary) of Des Moines; Victoria (Randy Burrack) and children Haley (Liz) and Cory of Longmont, Colorado; Char (Galen Greenzweig) and children Schae (Clay), Grant (Martina) and Jacob of Charles City; Julie (Mark D’Ambrosi) and children Luke, Sophia (Nick) and Noah of Old Saybrook, Connecticut; James (LuAnn) and children Paul (Morgan), Matthew (Megan) and Lauren (Andrew) of Lakes Mills; Gregory (Dawn) and children Kara, Mason and Logan of Eagan, Minnesota. There are three great grandsons: Bryson, Colby and Theo.

Teresa worked at 1st Citizen National Bank for 25 years; she took early retirement and worked for Allied construction in the summers as a scale monitor.

Orville and Teresa were active in Immaculate Conception Catholic Parish and she was a member of Saint Catherine’s circle. They did some volunteering with Meals on Wheels delivering meals. They spent several winters in south Texas. Teresa loved to read, dance, play games, walk, swim at the YMCA, attend daily mass and go to coffee with friends after. Teresa loved to feed people and was an exceptional baker. She was a woman of great faith and instilled this in her children. She was one of the strongest people you could ever meet and fought her cancer several times with resolve. She was our “Energizer Bunny” with her boundless energy and ability to bounce back from anything life threw at her.

We are grateful that she made our family such a priority and this has allowed her children to remain close and work together to make her final wishes come to fruition.

Teresa leaves behind two sisters, Jean Walsh of Austin, Minnesota and Diana (Paul) Gartner of Fort Collins, Colorado; and two brothers, Gary (Lynn) Carolan and Dan (Carol) Carolan both of Austin, Minnesota; and in-laws, Ivy (Sy) Zobeck of Waukon, Wayne (Jayne) Scholbrock and Judy Aberg of Cresco.

Memorials may be directed to the family, and they will in turn be shared with charities in honor of our Mom.

Chris Berg

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
